All Mothers have one thing in common – Love

During this week’s True Life Academy podcast I opened the phone lines. Wow – what a great time to do so. The subject was #Mothers. We all have one.

People from all over the country shared their #Mom stories. One caller shared how Mom always found a way to make ends meet even when there was no food or money to feed or care for the family. The suggestion that Moms like this could balance the country’s budget was funny.

But somehow it makes you wonder why our brilliant politicians seem to have so much trouble – with all the resources available to them they still have what seems to be incredible failures in managing the economy. Here is little ole’ Mom finding a way to feed her children when all seems lost. Listen to this caller now.

Another caller gave the most profound advice that she picked up from her mother while she was just a little girl. She has passed that wisdom down to her own daughter and is something we could all benefit from hearing.

Whether your mother is alive or has transitioned to another plane, the one thing that was common among all the callers was the deep love that mothers give to their children. Unlike any other love known to man is a mother’s love for her child.

So even when our mothers pass on – it is such a powerful thing to know and hold that your mother’s love stays with you.

In honor of celebrating our mothers, I have proposed a new way to look at Mothers Day. The fact that mom has given a good portion of her life to love, care and raise us makes celebrating her on one day a year seem weak and just not enough.

Think about it. Many of us have gotten up early on Mother’s day and served her breakfast in bed with a flower or a small gift. Our way of saying thank you for years of feeding us, bathing us, protecting us, dressing us, loving us no matter what,…. and the list goes on.

One day a year? Really? One meal in bed? And in many cases, mom has to get up and clean the mess in the kitchen.

So as a very, very small way to say that mom means a little more than that to us, I am proposing that we change Mother’s Day to Mother Days. The celebration and gratitude should last at least a week. Sunday to Sunday. All mothers should be given that week off with pay by their employer. For the entrepreneur mom – we should have a way to provide something she values for free to her throughout the week. House cleaning service? Cooking meals for the family or something of her choosing.

I don’t have all the details worked out but let’s start with a greater level of recognition by providing more than one day a year to say mom we love you and what you do for us everyday.

Well – that’s my rant for the week.

So who’s with me? Let’s do something extraordinary for the wonderful Mothers in our lives.

The Ten Commandments For A Failed Life

How to live a fulfilled life and become your best you.

How to live a fulfilled life and become your best you.

Before you yell at me and say “Clarence Caldwell – what do you mean Failed Life?” First of all, I know that I am in trouble when someone yells out my first and last name. So, before you do – hear me out.

Of course no one wants to live a Failed Life. You may also argue that a life isn’t failed until it is over with no hope or time left to turn things around. You may also argue that failure is in the eye of the beholder and that Clarence, True Life Academy, nor any other so called expert can call another person’s life – failed.

Well you would be right on all accounts. The reason this blog post is titled this way is to take a stab at shining a little light on the life you are living. Whether you agree with the terminology (Failed Life) or not, I will stand my ground in a discussion about whether you can give yourself a leg up on living a fulfilled life vs one that could be seen as failed or for argument’s sake let’s just say – less than satisfying.

If the title throws you off – I wish I could apologize, but I won’t. You see If I titled it The Ten Commandments For A Fulfilled Life, then I am not so sure many people would stop to read this. The good news is that there are thousands of articles and writings describing the best way to live our lives. The bad news is that there are thousands of articles and writings describing the best way to live our lives. You see, with so much of the same thing coming at you time and time again, even if its good stuff – you may find the tendency to become a little numb to it. Not purposely but that is a part of human nature.

My intention and hope is that your desire to avoid the outcome of a Failed Life is what drew you to this writing. If that is true then I am happy to say that you will carry from this, a set of signs and symptoms to look out for in your quest for a happier, more fulfilled life.

I won’t go into each one here because it would take too long. It would also just be a copy and paste job for me. Simply because I have already written the Commandments out with a full explanation of each. You can find the full writing here in this link.

What I will give you is the list of all ten. I am also including a link for you to download the book and read what each commandment is about. You will see how following these principles can lead to an unwanted life. My hope is that you are not following these – at least not on a regular basis. We all may trip up from time to time and find ourselves holding on to some of these. However, I think that having this list and understanding how these commandments play out in your life will give you a leg up turning things around before they lead you too far down the path to a less satisfying life.

So here they are in short: CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL VERSION

Commandment #1 – Believe not in yourself

Commandment #2 – Consider yourself unworthy of prosperity and happiness

Commandment #3 – Seek to avoid failure, embarrassment and rejection

Commandment #4 – Embrace what others say is true about you

Commandment #5 – Always hold back from new big opportunities

Commandment #6 – Be comfortable where you are

Commandment #7 – Do everything on your own

Commandment #8 – Never forgive others that have done wrong

Commandment #9 – Be thankful only for the good things in life

Commandment #10 – Seek not your connection with spirit

As simple as these sound – you’ll find it hard not to fall into these traps from time to time. That’s to be expected. After all we are human and we have been taught many of these things over the course of our lives either directly by authority figures in our lives or by personal experience that has ingrained certain beliefs and behaviors we hold dear today.

Having accepted this assignment as being a human becoming on this planet, not only do you have the right to be your best you, but you have an obligation as well.

Your family, your friends and even people you do not know are better off when you are being all you were meant to be.

Think of it…. Your life is the most important thing you have, and you get to take full control over how it will be lived.

If you hand over that responsibility to others then your journey will be filled with more despair, fear and hopelessness than you deserve. Taking responsibility for your life is the first step.

My sincere desire for you is that you let these Ten Commandments serve as a quick reminder of your strengths, powers and gifts.

When Life Attacks – You Have All You Need

dogfight

This Christmas my daughter and her 2 year old son were attacked by two vicious dogs in our neighborhood. Sometimes life will throw unexpected challenges our way, much like the dog attack. In life this is a given. What is important is how we respond. We will always be faced with unforeseen events – some more serious than others. Do you have the inner strength to ward off the attack?

  • An emergency expense may come up that wipes out a portion of your savings.
  • Your girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife may may decide to leave you of have an affair.
  • Your boss may tell you that you are no longer needed in your current job.
  • You may get an illness that you weren’t prepared for or you may struggle with other health issues.

When life attacks we’re usually caught off guard. The dog attack can serve as a lesson on how we respond to these unexpected issues in life. Allow me to tell you how it all went down.

Christmas Day – As we were taking a walk in the neighborhood my son-in-law and I were walking well ahead of my daughter and her 2 year old son. Suddenly, without warning I heard the loud barking and growling of two dags that were charging towards the two year old. As my son-in-law and I turned around we could see the two dogs racing towards mother and son. In a single quick split second move my daughter swooped up her baby boy and turned her back toward the charging dogs in an attempt to shield her son from the attack. In that same moment her husband darted ever so quickly toward his family in an effort to also protect and shield both mother and son from the attack. These instinctive selfless acts of mother and father were something to behold. In less than a heartbeat into this event, my own protective instincts kicked in as well. Without as much as a second thought, I found myself running as well. Except I was running directly toward the two dogs. As I ran in their direction I immediately started barking and growling in the deepest and loudest voice I could muster. I raised both arms high over my head as I came closer to the menacing attackers. With more surprise than anticipation I saw both of these dogs immediately stop and quiet themselves as they turned their attention toward me. For just a brief moment both dogs stopped in their tracks and gave me a slightly head tilted look as if they were trying to decide if I was a real threat or just another potential prey. As I kept advancing, shouting, barking, growling, and flailing my arms, their brief hesitation transformed into a partial retreat, and then a full retreat. Phew!

This event came out of the blue. The same is true for real tough life events that we face day in and day out. Of course some are less serious and some are more serious than attacking dogs. In all cases however, it is proven time and time again – Life has a way of trying to take a chunk out of you.

My question to you is: How will you respond? Will you face the challenge head on? Do you have the Belief, the Courage, The Commitment, the Wisdom and Power to act and prevail? Life’s events whether its related to finance, career, health or relationships, requires of us an inner strength that comes to the forefront at a moment’s notice.

Although the dog attack was a true story – let it serve as a metaphor for how we can respond to multiple events that attack our lives everyday. Of course it would be nice to be able to foresee these events in our lives, but the truth is that none of us know when, where, how or why the next life attack with occur. The only thing we can plan and prepare is the strength of our inner nature. Our ability to push through any doubt, to overcome the fear, to commit to the survival or protection of what we hold dear and to powerfully act when called to do so.

I have designed an online workshop that provides those very skills and knowledge that builds your strengths and prepares you for the dog attacks of life.

Leadership is an Inside Job

An Authentic Leader's Strength and Wisdom Come From Within

An Authentic Leader’s Strength and Wisdom Come From Within

How many times have you witnessed leaders demonstrating strength, focus and what can only be described as wisdom that seems almost effortless? Think of that one mentor or leader you look up to and see if these qualities are there. Among other great characteristics I am sure these are among them.

What you are witnessing is someone that is tapped into their authentic self. They have learned that to be a strong leader you must have more than powerful connections. You must have inner strength. They have learned that clarity and focus are not handed down via the latest strategic plan, but that it comes from inner conviction and vision. They have also learned that Data is just that – Data. They know that even when the data is translated to become information that the information is merely that – information. The gifted leader taps into their own experience and observations to make sense of the information, then interprets it in a way that connects to their inner wisdom.

These subtle differences in the way some leaders lead cannot always be measured or quantified, but can always be seen. We recognize these people as great leaders but cannot always put a finger on what it is that makes them great.

Simply put – they are leading from the inside – Leadership is an inside job!

Suicide, Why?… Really, why?

Suicide Pic
A quick query on the internet yielded 300 celebrities or notables that have taken their own lives in the last 70 plus years. This does not include the drug overdoses that have taken at least a hundred celebs over this same time period. Some would say those were accidents. I say those are suicides also. I explain why in my latest podcast.
My research shows that a good majority of suicides are preventable but not so much by the person struggling – but by the people around him or her that just miss the signs. Don’t get me wrong. At the end of the day the choice belongs to the individual and that is no one’s responsibility other than the person that decides to end it all. I am so clear about this, that I have reached the conclusion that Suicide is a Selfish Act.
Now before you wag your finger at me and call me unfeeling, remember that we all have a choice to do the things we do. Taking your own life is the ultimate choice. The final choice. If any of you have ever contemplated that act then you will know that there are a thousand things that go through your mind before you commit to that decision. During that period of time thoughts that include what others will say think or go though when you’re gone is part of it. To go forward with the act even after that thought process, leaves me no other opinion than to say this is a Selfish Act.
With that personal view point established – I would also like you to know that I do have a measure of empathy for anyone going through something so horrific that they feel the only way out is to exit this life. That empathy drove me to record a podcast episode on iTunes called ‘When Suicide Seems To Be The Only Answer’.

My Struggles With Religion

An issue from Liz’s blog that many people wrestle with. Would love to hear your opinion.

lizd1789's avatarLiz Skajem

My whole life I have struggled with my religion. I really don’t have any good answers as to why my brain has such a hard time just choosing something to believe in and going with it. I am glad that my mom allowed us the freedom to decide whether or not we would be religious. However, sometimes I think it would be easier had she told us we would burn in hell if we didn’t believe something specific.

I do think I have some sort of connection with God. I have always felt that all my relatives who have passed are still with me in spirit, and I also pray to God. It’s just the unknown that has me so conflicted. All these unanswered questions could eat me alive. Like, “If god is real, how could he allow innocent children to die? Why doesn’t he come to me in my…

Are You Aware of Who You Are? Are You Awake?

Tags

To awaken see yourself through God's eyes.

To awaken see yourself through God’s eyes.

Do you consider your self of average intelligence? Smart? Brilliant? Genius?

How about in relation to your cat or your dog or other animals?

Questions about our intelligence are not usually asked in this way because we have conditioned ourselves to see any life other than human as an intelligence that below our own.

Was there a time that you saw an animal act in a way that made you wonder if they were acting on instinct or with an intended higher purpose? If they are capable of acting with a higher order of thought, or put differently, have the ability to act with an intended higher purpose, then how are we to determine the level of intelligence that animals or other living things have. Should we only use our own understanding of intelligence as the reference point for making this assessment?

I know, you’re asking yourself….. Where is he going with this?

Well, this is a commentary on one of our gifts that go beyond intelligence. A gift that each of us have which supports our ability to make life what it was intended to be. As well as for us to become what we choose.

I watched a video recently on Dolphins that were captive and studied to show that their level of intelligence was far beyond what we had previously thought. Their ability to recognize, feel and emote rivals that of humans. As a mirror was place in the tank, there was a clear indication through their behavior that they were very self aware. Unlike a dog or cat that either ignores their own reflection or thinks there is another cat or dog in the room, these animals really checked themselves out and even turned to see markings that were placed on them by the handlers. They blew air bubbles and just played from time to time in font of the mirror looking inside their own mouths and so on.

Whether Dolphin, Elephant, Cat, Dog or any other animal on the planet – there needs to be a measure of respect and reverence we give to them as being created by the same life force or life source that created us. This knowing brings about a level of obligation to the preservation and respect for life that most of us have for each other as humans.

No this was not intended to be an animal rights blog post – but if you get closer to understanding that point of view based on this short note, then that’s probably not a bad thing.

What I am intending is for you to recognize and revere the life that You have, in a way that shines a light on your connection with the divine, the ‘life source,’ the universe….. God.

As humans becoming (not human beings) we are continually evolving and changing within our present life time and as a species over longer periods of time. One way that we continue to evolve is in our awareness of who we are. Think of our existence here as a gift. The gift of Life. Along with that gift we have been given several powers that allow us to live this Life in a way that emanates the reflection of the ‘life source’ that gave this life to us.

One such power is our Power to be Aware. It has been said that as humans we are aware, that we are aware. This is the essence of us living life in an awakened state.  Awakened to the understanding of our powers, abilities, responsibilities, connections with each other and with source (God). This awareness has been what we have thought separated us from all other living creatures. No, I won’t attempt to convince you that this is true or false. That could take quite a bit of convincing either way. But it would be fun and perhaps enlightening to discuss or debate that with you at some point.

This being awaRe or awaKe is fundamental in our spiritual growth and development. We shouldn’t take it lightly. By taking it lightly I mean that we shouldn’t get out of the habit of seeking the connection with our ‘life source.’ Whether its though praying, meditating or just looking inward and reflecting to connect with our true self – this is essential for us to live our True Life.

Although there are many gifts or powers we have in our tool kit as humans, I will only talk briefly about one other. The gift of Choice. Because we have the power to choose it becomes extremely important that our choices are based on staying connected to the source of our creation.

The opportunity to use this power presents itself thousands of times daily and for the most part we make these choices quickly and without much thought. What am I going to wear today? How much more coffee will I drink? Should I call that person back now or later? on and on and on. Seems innocent enough on the surface. However, be aware of one truth. One that I learned many years ago as a homeless adult when I woke up to my True Life. What I realized was not only true for me but is true for all of us. Wherever you are in your life, it is a result of the choices you have made.

For some this is hard to hear, because some of us like to think that our situation is a result of what others have done to or for us.

Once you become aware or wake to who you are and what was intended for your life, you then understand how much control you really do have in being, doing and having anything you choose.

The feeling of empowerment, joy, freedom, abundance, opportunity and so on become heightened and leads to you having more in life than you could imagine while you were unaware of who you really are.

The Mind is a Powerful Creator

Your Thoughts Create Your Reality

Your Thoughts Create Your RealityMind is Powerful

You are living a life – whether it is one of greatness or mediocrity is up to you. Use your mind to create the life you choose.

“What you fill your mind with you fill your life with”
~ Clarence Caldwell

This is a favorite saying of mine. In fact I like it so much that I use it often when talking to people about improving their lives. You may have heard similar statements – but this says it all. I actually had it Trade Marked. Not sure why – but after getting feedback on the efficacy of this quote – It seemed like a good idea at the time
The truth is that none of us own concepts like this so it seems a bit ridiculous that we can actually TM a quote and call it our own.
Nonetheless, With the power that we have to create our own reality it stands to reason that we should care for this gift. Care for it not only by recognizing the power but also by honing it in a way that allows us to use it freely and easily with the greatest amount of effectiveness. If we can really create greatness for our lives – why aren’t we learning everything we can to become masters at doing so? For many years I thought I knew the facts around attracting things into my life by merely thinking of them and holding them in my conscious long enough to imprint them upon my subconscious mind.
I would venture to guess that this is where most people stand in the knowledge of this phenomenon. Why not take it a step further? Hell, why not take it a quantum leap further? If it really works the way we think it does – then why aren’t we teaching this to our kids and in our schools?
For some reason the Western World has put such value on monetary wealth that the true value of life and fulfillment have taken a back seat. Unfortunately, in doing so we have cut ourselves short of the reality that accompanies this powerful gift of manifestation via the mind. Contrary to how we are taught to think, we really don’t have to sacrifice the monetary gains that we have come to covet. The ability to create our reality by manifestation of thought also includes our financial situation or status. For some reason we have adopted the idea that financial freedom only comes from hard work, crime / cheating or simply by luck. The truth that I know personally through life lessons and experience is that wealth can be manifested in your life by changing your thoughts about it. Of course it does not magically appear as a result of thinking about dollar signs, but there is a direct correlation between your attracting the financial abundance and the thoughts and beliefs you have surrounding your relationship with money.
I picked money as an example because I was certain that would hold your attention and help make the point about your mind creating your reality. But know this – The same is true for he other ‘success measures’ we have in our lives (Career, Health and Relationships.)
Apply the right principles, techniques and practices to managing your mind and beliefs and you can produce a great level of success in any area of life that you focus on. The operative instruction here is applying the techniques, and practices – not just merely focusing on the outcome.
In a future article I will explore these effective practices and tools that can be used to manage your mind and beliefs thus creating the world, the life, the existence that you desire.

You are living a life – whether it is one of greatness or mediocrity is up to you. Use your mind to create the life you choose.
